Topic
The United Nations Organization (UNO) is an international organization committed to maintaining international peace and security, developing friendly relations among nations and promoting social progress, better living standards and human rights. To achieve multilateral resolutions, official delegates negotiate in a highly complex, multilateral system.
Concept
This seminar will give you an insight into UNO. Over the course of two semesters, participants receive:

Coaching by experienced members of the student association MUN Bern

Training in international negotiations by Professor Addor and Mrs. Rüegsegger

Workshops including rhetoric and international politics
-
MUN simulations.
The coaching and workshops prepare students for the successful participation in a MUN Conference.
Events & Evaluation
The table of events (you'll find it under events) lists the events of the seminar. In order to receive credit points (5 ECTS-credits). You must attend the 7 events in bold script as well as the one-day-simulation "CapitalMUN".
The evaluation will be based on students’ preparation, presentation and commitment in the CapitalMUN (50%) and on their written Position Paper for said simulation (50%).
Participation in an external conference is voluntary and not required for a successful completion of the seminar.
Students & Requirements
The seminar is open for Major and Minor students of law or of history, both on the Bachelor’s and Master’s level. The course language is English, therefore solid knowledge of English is essential, but proof of language skills is not required.
The seminar fits you perfectly when you are interested in international negotiations, global politics, the United Nations, and discussions concerning related fields such as economic, social or legal topics.
RW-Major students can participate only if they have completed the "Einführung in die juristische Arbeitstechnik" before the end of the preceding semester.

Participation in the seminar is limited. Please send your registration with a short motivation letter, name, first name, address, e-mail, phone number, Matrikel-number, current field of study (e.g. law), level (e.g. Bachelor), number of semesters studied and confirmation of attendance in the “Einführung in die juristische Arbeitstechnik” (only for RW-Mono students) to munbern.seminar@gmail.com .
